Exams are around the corner. The vast syllabus is staring back at
you. You feel high on anxiety but you’re low on time. You have to boost your score if you want a seat in your dream college.
There are many opinions given by our surrounding on how to approach this task
leaving you dazed and confused. Here are few strategies which will help you in regaining your equilibrium and even
improve your marks:
Revising from Page 1 will not work
Acknowledge the fact that covering THE ENTIRE SYLLABUS
during your revision period-is NOT possible. Passively leafing through your study material as if
they were pages of a novel is not going to yield any fruitful result.
The feeling of not covering enough material might linger in your
mind and cause sleepless nights. But smart work trumps hard work. Follow these steps.
(a) Study your class notes only. Each and every word in the notebook must be understood and learned by heart. Repeat the problems again and again on the rough notebook. Don’t read notes of many teachers. DON’T SEE VIDEOS OF OTHER TEACHERS ON SOCIAL MEDIA. Remember every teacher teaches in his or her own way. You only get confused . Strict to limited content repeatedly. Remember a stroke practiced many times is more stronger than many strokes practiced.
(b) Grand Tests-
Get over your exam anxiety with weekly Tests. This is the best way to actualize your score where you stand. But Remember the most important part of a test is it’s analysis.
Note down :
- The number of incorrect questions in each subject.
- Single out your weakest topics in each subject. Start revising your weak topics and improve the number of correct attempts in the next test.
- Analyse each mistake was it silly mistake? Or it was due to insufficient knowledge.
SILLY MISTAKES:
Ask yourself: Was it really a silly mistake? Or a defense mechanism you are employing to hide from the fact that you are not involved in the depth of the topic.
If it is actually a silly mistake, half the battle is won because when you realise your silliness , you become more careful next time Giving more number of Grand Tests will help you to rectify these mistakes. - Create list of LMR (last minute revision) Topics.
- Note your progress in each test and try to learn from your mistakes. Try not to repeat them.
(C) Identify the trend by Practising previous year questions
Grand Tests and their analysis will give you an idea of your strengths and weaknesses. But familiarize with the trends of PYQs by attempting those Tests within time limits.
Trend will help you to do smart work. You will be more conscious for selective topics.
(d) Dealing with anxiety
Most important part is to keep your state of mind calm during exam and before exams. Remember three hours cannot access months of your hard work and intellectual growth. Your mindset during the exam matters the most. It’s absolutely fine to worry but it’s unwise to control your actions. Most aspirants from previous years scoombed to the anxiety and stress last year and it affected their score radically Do whatever that calms you down. It may be yoga, meditation, walk, dance or any game you play.. Get out of this toxic headspace as soon as possible. Just relax.
We all have some phobias but then, a mindful of positive energy, faith and willpower can help you to fight your fears.
FACE IT, FIGHT IT, FORGET THE OUTCOME AND BECOME FORTUNATE
Do your karma’s with full dedication and leave everything on God. He will lead you to the better place.
With lots of love and blessings
